After the long break due to the pandemic, Tim McGraw had some concerns about finally getting back on the road, mainly whether or not he’d remember the lyrics to all his tunes. He was particularly worried about songs on “Here On Earth” because, he says, “when the new album came out, you know, everything sort of went to hell in a handbasket with Covid.”
But he had issues with his classics too, noting that one day while on the treadmill he tried to remember the words to “Live Like You Were Dying,” and he was having trouble.
But Tim wasn’t that worried because he knows that he’s been dong this long enough that “muscle memory” will return when he gets on stage. Plus, if he forgets the fans are always there to help him out.
“A lot of times when you’re holding a microphone out and people know all the words and they’re singing, they’re like, ‘Alright! Great! He’s lettin’ us sing,’” Tim says. “But most the time it’s because I forgot the lyrics and you know ‘em better than I do.”
