Mickey Guyton is set to be honored as the 2021 CMT Breakout Artist of the Year next month’s CMT Artists of the Year event.
“We are thrilled to honor the immensely talented Mickey Guyton as this year’s ‘Breakout Artist of the Year,’” Leslie Fram, Senior Vice President, Music & Talent, CMT shares. “After relentlessly chasing her dreams in country music for years, her perseverance, tenacity and spirit have culminated in this spectacular moment of recognition where she’s finally receiving the credit she deserves.”
Previous Breakout Artist of the Year winners include Chris Stapleton (2015), Kelsea Ballerini (2016), and Ashley McBryde (2019).
The 2021 CMT Artists of the Year event will take place October 13th at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
- Meanwhile, Mickey’s debut album “Remember Her Name” drops today, the title of which was inspired by Breonna Taylor, who was killed by police officers in March, 2020. But Mickey says the song eventually “turned into my story.” She notes, “this song is just reminding you that person, that little girl, that little boy that was in you when you first started is still there and to not forget that person; remember that person, remember that fire that you once had.”
