Lady A’s Charles Kelley Shares His Earliest Music Memory

For a lot of people, music has a bit impact on their lives, and certain songs take them back to specific moments in time, and that’s true for Lady A’s Charles Kelley.  For Charles, one of his earliest memories of falling for a song happened when he was 10 and is older brother came back from college with Nirvana’s “Nevermind.”

“He had this little Discman, and when he was gone during the day I would just go up there and listen, cause he probably would’ve gotten mad that I was on his Discman while he wasn’t there,” Charles says. “I vividly remember just sitting and just listening to that album over and over and over again.”

Charles notes that now whenever he hears “Smells Like Teen Spirit" he’s “immediately teleported back there in his room, sittin’ on the side of the bed just listening and pushing repeat, repeat.” He adds, “The sound of it blew me away. I don’t know how to describe it.”
