In case you missed it, Little Big Town appeared on Dan Rather’s “The Big Interview” this week, where they talked about how they balance their professional and personal life. Specifically how Jimi Westbrook and Karen Fairchild, who’ve been married since 2006, deal with being a couple and working together.
“It’s a challenge. We were in the band for seven years before we were every in a relationship together,” Jimi shares. “As we approached (this), we were like, ’Are we really gonna do this?’”
Of course, a band dynamic can be very different when two people are a couple, and Jimi notes, “It was important for us to not make them feel like it was ever a couple against them. You don’t want that dynamic to change.”
As for whether Kimberly Schlapman ever thought these two would get together she says, “I never had the forethought that that was a possibility,” noting they both were originally dating other people, but she admits, “I did notice the sparks when they started happening, for sure. We knew what was just getting started.”
And Phillip Sweet was all for the relationship. “When happiness is there for you to go get,” he said, “you must seize the day. I was like, ’Go get her, man.'”
