Dolly Parton celebrated her 50th anniversary as a member of the Grand Ole Opry earlier this year, and fans finally got to share in the celebration thanks to last night’s NBC special, “Dolly Parton: 50 Years at the Grand Ole Opry.”
Artists performing on the special included Chris Janson, Margo Price, Dierks Bentley, Emmylou Harris, Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Hank Williams, Jr., and more.
The show had Dolly reminiscing on her career and Opry memories, and also had her telling stories like she’s known to do. She also performed, of course, treating the audience to such tunes as “9 to 5,” “Joshua,” “Coat of Many Colors,” “My Tennessee Mountain Home,” “The Carroll County Accident,” “Here You Come Again,” “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You.”
Other highlights of the show included: Lady A performed Dolly’s Kenny Rogers collaboration “Islands in the Stream,” Emmylou performed “To Daddy,” Margo sang “The Seeker,” Chris performed “The Mule Skinner Blues,” Toby performed “Kentucky Gambler,” and Dierks performed “Old Flames Can’t Hold A Candle To You.”
