Have you ever started the day with a peaceful outlook, only to be pulled under by an unexpected wave of anxiety? If so, youâre definitely not alone. Many of us are swimming against currents of anxiety these days, and it doesnât seem to be getting any easier.
However, Godâs Word is the perfect life preserver, rescuing us from every worry, doubt, and fear. If youâre tired of swimming against the current and long for peaceful shores, here are 8 Scriptures to instantly calm anxiety.

1. Isaiah 41:10
âSo do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.â
The Lord is with you, friend, He truly is. Donât let fear convince you otherwise. Lean on His strength. Grasp His righteous right hand, trusting Him to uphold you through anxious trials.
Take Isaiah 41:10 with you, recalling it often as a sure way to calm your mind and spirit. Hear the Holy Spiritâs constant whisper, âDo not be dismayed, for I am your God.â
Thank You, Lord, for upholding me with Your righteous right hand. You are strong and mighty to rescue me from anxious living. I will not be dismayed, but instead, lean on Your limitless strength to guide me. In Jesusâ name, amen.

2. Lamentations 3:22-24
âBecause of the Lordâs great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, âThe Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.ââ
Did you know Godâs mercies are new every morning? Not one day goes by without His love and compassion. Let this truth wrap around your heart like a comforting blanket. The Lord is your portion and your peace. Nothing consumes you except for His mighty love. Wait for Him, dear one. He will deliver you from all anxiety and fear.
Thank you, God, for Your endless mercy and grace. Your love and compassion are ever with me, and because of this, I am free from anxiety. Even when my faith feels weak, You remain strong and faithful. You are my portion â my constant provision and peace. In Jesusâ name, amen.

3. Psalm 61:2-3
âFrom the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.â
Remember the old chorus that says, âLead me to the Rock, the Rock thatâs higher. Lead me to the Rock thatâs higher than I.â Let these lyrics play on repeat in your mind, strengthening your resolve against anxiety. He is your refuge and strong tower against every lie of the enemy. Find shelter in the Cleft of the Rock, your holy protection against the fierce winds of anxiety.
Thank You, Lord, for protecting me from the foe of anxiety. I rest under the shelter of Your wings. My enemy cannot find me when I am hidden in the shelter of Your presence. When fierce winds blow, I will rest assured that I am safe in the Rock of my salvation. In Jesusâ name, amen.

4. Psalm 94:18-19
âWhen I said, âMy foot is slipping,â your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.â
When anxiety causes your foot to slip, reach for God, your faithful support. He will not let you fall. Great is His consolation, bringing joy, peace, and calm. No amount of anxiety is too big for Him to handle.
Thank You, God, for Your unfailing love. I donât deserve it, but I receive it today. You know when anxiety is great within me, and thatâs when You flood my soul with comforting joy and peace. In Jesusâ holy name, amen.

5. John 14:27
âPeace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.â
Hear Jesusâ words with open ears today: âDo not let your hearts be troubled.â As anxiety creeps in, block it with the declaration, âJesus is my peace!â Repeat this statement until every ounce of anxiety is gone. The peace of God surpasses all understanding, and itâs yours to claim.
Thank You, Lord, for leaving Your peace behind. Itâs unlike any peace Iâve ever experienced, and it protects my heart from trouble. I cannot thank You enough for this lavish gift. I receive it anew, holding fast to it in these turbulent times. In Your precious name, amen.

6. Romans 15:13
âMay the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.â
Receive this precious blessing as a promise that God will fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him. Feel the overflow of His Spirit filling you to the full with renewed hope for the future. He is the God of all hope!
Thank You, Lord, for Your boundless blessings of joy, hope, and peace. I put my trust in You, counting on You to fill me with every good fruit by the abundance of Your Spirit. In Jesusâ name, amen.

7. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
âFor God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.â
Break agreement with anxiety now as you repeat 2 Timothy 1:7. Believe that God has given you a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind - the exact opposite of anxiety. You are stronger than you think because of Godâs great power that lives in you!
Thank You, God, for the indwelling of Your Spirit who empowers me to overcome anxiety. I will not give in to doubt or fear, but instead, stand firm in Your love and the gift of a sound mind. In Jesusâ mighty name, amen.

8. Hebrews 13:6
âSo we say with confidence, âThe Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?ââ
Confidence in Christ overrides every worry, doubt, and fear. Anxiety doesnât stand a chance when God is present! The Lord is your Helper; He is for you, and no one can come against you. Hold fast to this promise when anxiety tries to steal your peace. Be confident in what the Lord has spoken over you. You are His beloved, His prized possession. Rest in His loving protection today.
Thank You, Lord, for being my sure confidence in a world that is unsteady and unpredictable. I trust You to help me in every situation. What can man do to me when You are on my side? With open hands, I give You my anxiety today, trusting You to cast it far, far away. In Jesusâ name, amen.
