2019 COUNTRY 97.5’S TALENT SEARCH CONTEST RULES
- The “2019 Country 97.5’s Talent Search” (“Contest”) is open to any Hawaii resident eighteen (18) years of age or older with a valid Hawaii or U.S. Military I.D. Employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives, and immediate family and household members of Salem Media of Hawaii, Inc., owner and operator of KHCM-FM (“Radio Station”), Wahiawa & Pearl Family Dental Care (“Sponsor”), Vacations Hawaii, their parent companies, their parent’s affiliated companies, and their advertising and promotion agencies are not eligible to participate in the Contest.
- GENERAL CONTEST RULES: All entrants will be subject to the Rules and Regulations of Country 97.5’s Talent Search (“Country 97.5’s Talent Search Rules”) which will be posted on the Radio Station website and included on the Contest entry form. These rules shall govern the local rounds of the Contest.
- ENTERING THE CONTEST: Beginning on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, entrants may enter the Contest by completing an official entry form online at Radio Station’s website at http://www.975country.com and clicking on the banner ad regarding the Contest beginning at 12:00 a.m. Only the first thirty (30) entrants to register will be allowed to participate in the Contest (“Qualifying Contestants”), as there will be up to ten (10) contestants competing in each of the two (2) preliminary rounds.
- PRELIMINARY ROUND: Radio Station will hold two (2) Preliminary rounds of the Contest Beginning October 26, 2019, with up to ten (10) Qualifying Contestants competing in each round, as follows (Sites and Times of Preliminary Rounds subject to change at stations discretion – “TBD”):
- October 26, 2019 Preliminary round (“Preliminary Round 1”) will be held at Aloun Farms Pumpkin Festiva, 91-1440 Farrington Hwy., Kapolei, HI 96707. Qualifying Contestants to meet at the main stage at 2:30 p.m. HST. Contest starts at approximately 3:00 p.m. HST and runs for approximately 2 hour. Winners to be announced after completion of Preliminary Round.
- November 8, 2019 Preliminary round (“Preliminary Round 2”) will be held at Whiskey Dix Saloon, 99-160 Kamehameha Hwy., Aiea, HI 96701. Qualifying Contestants to meet downstairs at Dixie Grill at 7:30 p.m. HT, Preliminary Round 2 starts at approximately 8:00 p.m. HT and lasts approximately 2 hours. Winners to be announced after completion of Preliminary Round.
- For each of the two (2) Preliminary rounds, there will be a panel of up to three (3) rotating judges selected by Radio Station who will be judging the Qualifying Contestants in its subjective discretion. The top three (3) Qualifying Contestants from each Preliminary round will advance to the Semi-Final round of the Contest as “Preliminary Finalists”. Qualifying Contestants must perform a total of two (2) country songs (one fast tempo song and one mid-tempo song) during the Preliminary round with a “minus 1” instrumental track or provide their own background music. At the time of entering the Contest, entrants will need to inform Radio Station of what songs they will be singing at the Preliminary round, as song choices are on a first come first serve basis.
- SEMI-FINAL ROUND: The Six (6) Preliminary Finalists “Semi-Final Finalists” and up to four (4) last second entries will advance to the Semi-Final, “The Last Chance Dance” round held on a Date To Be Determined at Kemo`o Farms Pub and Grill, Located at 1718 Wilikina Dr., Wahiawa, HI 96786. For the Semi-Final round, there will be a panel of three (3) judges selected by Radio Station, in its subjective discretion, will be selecting five (5) Semi-Final Finalists to advance to the Finals of the Contest as “Grand Finalists”. The Semi-Final Finalists will perform a segment of a song (1:45 – 2:00 minutes in length) of their choice at the Semi-Final round. Semi-Final Finalists will need to inform Radio Station of their song choice prior to competing in the Semi-Final round as requested by Sponsor, as song choices will be on a first come first serve basis. The performers who will be moving on to the Finals as Grand Finalists will be announced after the performances at the Semi-Final round. Dates and Times for Semi-Final Round subject to change.
- FINALS: The Finals will be held on a TBD Date at Hawaii Theatre Center, located at 1130 Bethel St., Honolulu, HI 96813. For the Finals, there will be a panel of three (3) judges selected by Radio Station who will select one (1) Grand Prize winner. Each Grand Finalist will perform a segment of a song (1:45-2:00 minutes in length) of their choice during the Finals. Grand Finalists will need to inform Radio Station of their song choice prior to competing in the Finals as requested by Radio Station and Sponsor, as song choices will be on a first come first serve basis. Winners will be announced at the Finals after the performances. Dates and Times for the Final Round subject to change.
- PRIZES:
- All Thirty (30) Qualifying Contestants that perform will receive a gift bag with an approximate retail value of $25 (“Participation Gift”), which will be presented at the Preliminary rounds. No transfer, substitution, or cash equivalent will be given for the Participation Gift, provided however, Radio Station may, at its sole discretion, substitute a gift of equal or greater value.
- The Grand Prize winner of the Finals will receive the following (“Grand Prize”):
- A trip for two (2) to Las Vegas, Nevada from Vacations Hawaii which includes: (i) one (1) round trip economy class air transportation for two (2) to Las Vegas’ McCarran Airport from Honolulu International Airport on Omni Airlines; (ii) round trip ground transportation for two (2) in Las Vegas between McCarran Airport and the California Hotel & Casino; (iii) lodging for either four (4) nights or five (5) nights provided at the California Hotel & Casino, depending on the availability of the flight plan chosen by Grand Prize winner; and (iv) meal coupons for two (2) for three (3) daily meals redeemable at only the restaurants specified on the coupons (“Meal Coupon”), with a total approximate retail value of $1,850. Grand Prize winner will be responsible for all taxes, fees, gratuities and all other expenses in Las Vegas and for transportation to and from Honolulu International Airport. No transfer, substitution, or cash equivalent will be given for the Grand Prize, provided however, Radio Station may, at its sole discretion, substitute a prize of equal or greater value. If the Grand Prize winner is under twenty-one (21) years of age, travel partner must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older. If either traveler is under the age of twenty-one (21), a Meal Coupon will not be issued to that traveler. If Grand Prize winner cannot find a travel partner who is twenty-one (21) years of age or older, winner will forfeit aforementioned trip.
- PROMOTIONAL AUTHORIZATION: Performances from the Preliminary round, Semi-Finals round, and Finals may be photographed and/or recorded by audio and/or video and featured on Radio Station, Radio Station’s and Sponsor’s social media websites and other materials for marketing and promotional purposes, without compensation to the performers. Nothing contained herein shall obligate Radio Station or Sponsor to use any performance from the Contest for marketing or promotional purposes. By entering this Contest, each entrant agrees to assign to Radio Station and Sponsor any and all rights to the performances given by the entrants during the Contest. If this assignment of rights is invalid for any reason, each participant agrees to grant Radio Station and Sponsor a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to utilize the entrant’s name, likeness, image, voice, appearance, hometown, service mark, biographical/other information, statements, and performance in perpetuity worldwide for advertising, trade or any other lawful promotional purposes whatsoever, in any and all media now known or thereafter developed, without compensation. Each entrant gives all clearance, copyright or otherwise, for the use of entrant’s name, likeness, image, voice, appearance, hometown, service mark, biographical/other information, statements, and embodied in entrant’s performance/stage presentation.
- AGREEMENT TO BE BOUND BY CONTEST RULES: By participating in the Contest, each entrant agrees to abide by and be bound by all of these Official Contest Rules and the decisions of Radio Station staff. All decisions regarding the Contest (excluding selecting the finalists and winners) will be made by the Radio Station staff, whose decisions shall be final. The Contest Judge may prohibit an entrant from participating in this Contest, in his/her sole discretion, if, in the opinion of the Contest Judge, the entrant fails to abide by these rules, or otherwise acts (i) in a non-professional or inappropriate manner, (ii) with an intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other entrant or Radio Station, its parent company, its parent’s affiliated companies or its advertising and promotion agencies, or (iii) in any other disruptive manner. The winners are solely responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local taxes, and may be required to complete a W-9 taxpayer identification form. All federal, state, and local laws apply. Void where prohibited. Winners may have to complete an affidavit of eligibility and liability and, where lawful, publicity release. If Radio Station does not receive the affidavit and release within two (2) weeks of notification, the prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner may be selected. By participating in the Contest, each entrant agrees to release and hold Radio Station, its parent company and its parent’s affiliated companies harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims, and actions of any kind in connection with the Contest or resulting from acceptance, possession, or use of any prize, including, without limitation, personal injuries, death, and property damage, and claims based on any libel, slander, illegal competition or trade practice, violation of rights of privacy, infringement of copyrights or other rights of third parties.
- TO FIND OUT THE WINNERS: To find out the winners of the Contest, look for the winners’ names posted on the Radio Station’s website once the names have become available upon the conclusion of the Contest.
